Recently, the Bozeman Chronicle published an article about the Southwest Montana Mountain Bike Association’s (SWMMBA) trail-building efforts in the proposed Lionhead wilderness near West Yellowstone.
interesting read. we in Massachusetts have the DCR that oversees, protects watershed areas around the Wachusett and Quabbin Resevoirs ….are the biggest areas as they are intended for Bostons wares supply . The Wachusett was insufficient soon after it was created, the late 1800s In the 1930s, 4-5 towns sew disincorporated to create the Quabbin Resevoir. The DCR harvests lumber - has access roads and allows walking, hiking , skiing but NOT biking, no unleashed dogs……. Some of my favorite trails would be wonderful for biking on their access roads. In fact I am going to sign off and petition them shortly. I will remind them that I have picked up after some of their workers have left bar chain oil containers out in some areas. We should be able to share some of these areas.
Not wares Water - the Ware/ weir River is further west
